New
Yung Crew is a Hip-Hop duo,
based out of the Mecca of Hip-Hop:
Brooklyn, New York. NYC
(as it is commonly known) consists
of two members: J. Spin and Yung
Stuy.
They started hitting the underground
scene in late 2004, in Virginia
Beach, Virginia, when they met
former radio disc jockey, Jeff
Rimmer. Rimmer had a vision of
something new, something different;
and, something positive. He
wanted to break down walls and
overcome racial barriers that seemed
so common within the music industry.
He saw potential in two brothers,
twins to be exact, and decided to
rediscover his love for music by
working with NYC to
develop their own musical talent.

Rimmer found a way for his vision
when he started Shorehaven
Productions in November
2004. This program offered
adolescents a place to hone their
skills in music, while building an
interest in songwriting, musical
instruments; and, music production.
Jeff worked with kids of varying
ages to help them find a means to
channel their artistic personalities
while simultaneously offering an
alternative extracurricular activity
to those not interested in sports
and traditional school programs.
The program was an instant success;
and, with the help of J. Spin and
Stuy, Shorehaven Productions
made a name for itself across
Hampton Roads.
This was just another stepping stone
in the road to success in the music
industry. From there, J. Spin
and Stuy started working on musical
collaborations as well as recording
music. They helped produce a
few tracks, including Twin
Love (a deep look into the
life and biological connection of
the fraternal twin duo),
"Lucky Me, Lucky You" and
"Life of the Brook."
In April '05, the Crew received
unexpected attention from an L.A.
director, Chris Townsend and managed
to land a video shoot.
Townsend flew his crew into Virginia
Beach and they shot the video for
"Twin Love." In the
video, it portrays a fictional story
of Stuy being murdered and, how J.
Spin mourns the loss of his brother
and best friend. It delves into one
of the many issues the duo
identifies
in their songs, namely, death.
After the success of the video, they
were featured on a segment with 2
local news channels and, have been
in a couple of articles in the
Virginian-Pilot.

The Crew later collaborated with
Jeff and his long time friend, and
music producer Tony Hairston (a.k.a.
Tone Nitty) to finish recording and
completing their first music
project. Songs like "I
Hope Your Happy" and Spin’s
solo "BK 2 VA" were
produced by Tone. While Yung
Stuy was on hiatus for the birth of
his daughter, J. Spin helped to
construct his solo album, "Put
Me In." The Crew also
did collaborations with 5
Squad and other artists from
Shorehaven Productions.
Jeff and Tone started Broken
Barrier Entertainment in
2006 and, signed New Yung Crew
as one of their first artists.
Now back in the studio, Stuy is
working on his solo album and a
little producing. Both twins are
preparing for their first album
release as a group some time in
2007. They are not your
average Hip-Hop artists. They wanted
to bring something different to the
game, different from the "leaning
and rocking" and the "I'm a gangsta"
role that most of Hip-Hop has turned
into.
With the help of Broken
Barrier Entertainment they
will soon.

Crew!
